Porthleven Food & Music Festival
Friday April 21 2017to Sunday April 23 2017
This annual event in the picturesque little harbour town of Porthleven attracted over 30,000 visitors last year and is set to draw similar crowds in 2017. And no wonder it’s popular: a weekend in the middle of spring filled with Cornish food, beer and bands … what’s not to like?
Marquees on the quayside will be packed full of tasty treats from over 150 exhibitors. Last year’s included Cornish chocolatiers Chocolarder, Cornish Meadow Preserves, The Cornish Black Bee Company, The Cornish Food Box Company, and Skinners Brewery with their ever-so-local Porthleven pale ale, as well as delicious street food to enjoy while you browse. The chef’s theatre will host cookery demonstrations from the best local chefs, and you might even spot the odd celebrity too.
This year’s event has an Under the Sea theme, celebrating the close connection between Porthleven and the sea, and you can look forward to a themed party in the Shipyard marquee on the Saturday night. Sunday’s bake-off will also follow the theme, so look out for some outlandish marine creations.
Daytime and evening live music will range from classical to country and rock to reggae with lots of local bands and some international acts. Porthleven even has its very own fringe festival featuring literary events, arts and family entertainment.
Entry to the main food festival is free, but tickets are required for the After Dark parties. The music line-up can be found on the Porthleven Food Festival website, as can helpful advice on transport and places to stay. Check back in January for a complete list of the 2017 exhibitors and the full line-up of chefs.
So come on down to Porthleven this April, fill your shopping bags with Cornish food, eat yourself silly, drink until you are merry, and then boogie the night away.
