Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival
Thursday April 27 2017to Monday May 01 2017
The River Spey begins at Loch Spey on the western edge of the Cairngorms, and winds its way northeast all the way to the northern coast of Scotland. The Speyside region is famous for its wealth of whisky distilleries, and since 1999 the residents of Rothes, Elgin, Aviemore, Aberlour and the other settlements in the area have been celebrating that heritage with the annual Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.
Speyside produces more whisky than any other region in Scotland, so it is fitting that many of the best scotch varieties come together here. The festival does not take place in one location, but rather includes a wealth of events throughout the region.
Of particular interest are the stunning Festival Photography competition, with prizes awarded by judges and for a People’s Choice Award, tastings and tours of local distilleries, shopping opportunities, open doors events at some fantastic landmarks, and of course, the prestigious Whisky Awards.
