Balham Food Festival 2016
Sunday September 24 2017to Sunday October 01 2017
Get ready to bring your empty bellies to Balham on Sunday the 24th of September as they kick off their annual food festival. The former home of Masterchef’s John Torode, Balham has food and drink heritage coursing through its veins, and this week-long event is designed to showcase the crème de la crème of its drink businesses, bringing an inclusive attitude towards food.
The Balham Banquet begins at 11am on Hildreth Street and Bedford Hill Place, and there will be plenty for you and your family to feast on, right up until 5pm. Around 50 local foodies will be tempting you with their tasty treats including Nepalese dumplings, artisan scotch eggs, craft beers and award-winning curries, so you’ll find something you love without worry. There will also be tons of discounts available so you won’t have to break the bank for something truly scrumptious. We recommend rocking up to TV chef Jimmy Garcia’s pop-up restaurant, where you can sap up his delectable five-course tasting menu.
Don’t think it’s just edible treats on show though, as there will be live entertainment in the shape of Balham Ukelele Society, Funky Dance Moves, contemporary choir Balhamonics, singer/songwriter Mark Sullivan and other bands courtesy of The Bedford. Your children can chill in the Kids Zone and will be kept thoroughly entertained by the Ministry of Giggles, face-painting courtesy of The Dentist and Dee Light's cookie-decorating classes.
The festival really is a discovery of Balham’s food and drink scene, and you can explore this on the Food Trail. Full details will be released nearer the time, so stay-tuned for what promises to be a food and fun filled day for the whole family.
