You've missed this event
Located just moments from Shoreditch, the festival sprawls over the deliciously historic Tobacco Dock and the atmosphere is simply magical. If mulled wine doesn’t tickle your festive fancy then there’s Champagne aplenty to fizz among the twinkling lights, and perhaps accompany a glass with an ‘haute dog’ (don’t ask, just try).
Heralded as a ‘festival with bite’, Taste of London Winter delivers on all fronts. Surrounded by the very best dishes from London’s very best restaurants, food enthusiasts will be in seventh heaven. Think masterclasses, demonstrations, stalls groaning with delectable delights and festive foods, and so many chefs you’re bound to bump into one you recognise.
I love this festival, as it’s entirely what you make of it. If you fancy a weekend mooching around to get you in the mood for Christmas, picking your way round the food and stalls and generally chilling out, it works. Similarly, if it’s experience and workshops you’re after, this festival caters to those who are looking to learn as much as possible from the best chefs and pick up top tips for the kitchen to wow the in-laws on Christmas day!
No matter how many layers you wrap up in, I’d advise heading over to the fire pit to warm your cockles. If you went last year I’m preaching to the choir, but if you’ve yet to experience the fire pit you’re in for a treat. Proving that barbecues are not just for summer these grill experts provide hungry festival goers with everything from chargrilled deer to flame-smoked salmon, cooked in front of your eyes over spectacular curling flames.
What would Christmas be without cocktails and chocolate? Thankfully Taste of London Winter has both in abundance. How does Gü’s Garden of Temptation sound? Pudding legend and Gü Head Chef, Fred Ponnavoy brings plenty of gooey, chocolaty goodness to the party. Plus a host of cocktail experts shake and stir their way through the weekend.
Taste of London Winter is a veritable whirlwind of Christmas food and drink and the only way to gear up for the oncoming festivities.
