Urban Food Fest and Levi Roots' Carnival
Saturday August 26 2017
You've missed this event
You might not be quite ready for this. But I’ll go ahead. This August bank holiday, Shoreditch High Street will see the Levi Roots’ Carnival themed Urban Food Fest street food and bar night market extravaganza. In other words: Levi Roots will be appearing live at the festival, playing live music and handing out free Reggae Reggae Sauce, signing books and serving his famous Jamaican street food. Yes, that’s right – Levi Roots will actually be there, doing stuff! Coinciding with the world-famous Notting Hill Carnival, Urban Food Fest is throwing its own ‘Shoreditch Carnival’ to expand the celebration of all things Jamaican and Caribbean! The wittily-named Carnival ‘Rastaraunt’ will feature 15 street food trucks and stalls cooking up a storm, including dishes such as “Levi’s Reggae Reggae” slow cooked, slow smoked home-made jerk chicken, “Calypso” Jamaican goat curry, “Carnival Queen” sticky pulled pork, “Roots & Culture” Caribbean beef brisket, and in the V corner “No Meat No Cry” vegan spiced vegetable balls with roasted peppers. Drinks-wise, expect all kinds of rum, spiced cocktails, fruity infusions, wines, ciders and craft beers. There will even be a free beer or cocktail for everyone in carnival fancy dress! Why not give yourself five minutes to chill and take a seat at one of the beautiful seating areas with vintage furniture and giant deckairs – there’ll also be giant jenga, giant connect four and giant playing cards!
